How to Submit Your Cards by Mail
CardPawn is a fully online, mail-in service. There are no physical drop-off locations β all cards are sent via insured Canada Post with a prepaid label we email you after you accept a loan offer.
β οΈ Apply Online Before You Ship Anything
Do not ship your cards before applying. You receive a prepaid insured shipping label only after you submit your application, receive a loan offer, and accept it. Sending cards before this step means they arrive without an associated loan file and will be held until you complete the application.
Apply First βThe Complete Mail-In Process
Step 1: Complete Your Online Application
Visit cardpawn.ca/apply and submit your card details β name, year, sport/TCG, grading service, grade, and clear photos (front, back, label). Our appraisers review within 2 business hours and send your loan offer by email.
Step 2: Accept Your Loan Offer
Review the offer carefully: loan amount, monthly fee rate, term, insurance details, and storage conditions. If you accept online, you'll receive a confirmation email immediately containing your prepaid Canada Post Xpresspost label with built-in insurance coverage.
Step 3: Gather Your Packing Materials
Before you start packing, make sure you have the following on hand:
- Penny sleeves β one per raw card
- Top loaders (standard 3"Γ4" rigid plastic holders) or Card Savers (semi-rigid) β for raw cards
- Bubble wrap β for wrapping slabs and padding the box
- Rigid cardboard box β NOT a padded envelope or bubble mailer for valuable cards
- Packing tape β to seal the box completely
- Your loan confirmation number β write it on a slip of paper to include inside
Step 4: Protect Each Card Individually
For raw (ungraded) cards: Place the card in a penny sleeve first, then slide carefully into a top loader. Tape the top of the top loader with a small piece of masking or painter's tape to prevent the card sliding out. Never use regular sticky tape directly on the card.
For graded slabs (PSA, BGS, SGC, CGC): Wrap each slab individually in at least two layers of bubble wrap, securing with tape. The slab's corners and edges are the most vulnerable β make sure these are padded. Multiple slabs should each be wrapped separately before being grouped together.
Step 5: Pack the Box β The Shake Test
Place your wrapped cards or slabs in the box. Fill all remaining space firmly with bubble wrap, crumpled packing paper, or packing foam β the goal is zero movement. Pick up the sealed box and shake it firmly. If you hear or feel anything moving, reopen and add more padding.
Box-in-box method for high-value collections: Place your packed inner box inside a second, larger box with 2β3 inches of packing material on all sides. This double-boxing is the gold standard for shipping cards valued over $10,000.
Step 6: Include Your Loan Reference Inside
Place a piece of paper inside the box (not on top of the cards) with: your full name, loan confirmation number, and email address. This helps our receiving team match the shipment to your file instantly, ensuring same-day processing.
Step 7: Affix the Prepaid Label and Drop Off
Print the prepaid Canada Post Xpresspost label from the email we sent. Affix it flat and securely to the largest face of the box with packing tape over the edges β do not let the label curl or peel. Take the box to any Canada Post retail outlet or post office.
Do not use: Canada Post community mailboxes, parcel lockers, or overnight drop boxes. Always hand the parcel to a postal clerk and get your receipt β this is your proof of drop-off and activates the tracking.
Step 8: Track Your Shipment
Your tracking number is in the label email. Track at canadapost.ca. Xpresspost typically delivers in 1β3 business days within Canada.
You can also monitor your shipment status in your CardPawn account dashboard. We'll notify you when your cards arrive.
Step 9: Verification and Same-Day Funding
When your cards arrive at our vault, our team verifies each card against your loan agreement (30β60 minutes). We confirm: card identity, grade authenticity (via PSA/BGS database), and condition matches photos submitted.
Once verified, cash is wired to your Canadian bank account. You'll receive an email confirming: funds sent, a full photographic record of your cards in the vault, and vault storage confirmation.
β Common Packing Mistakes to Avoid
- Bubble mailer only β flex during transit crushes corners
- Rubber bands around cards β indent damage to edges
- Tape directly on cards β adhesive residue permanently damages surface
- No penny sleeve under top loader β card can scratch against plastic
- Drop box deposit β parcel not scanned at counter, insurance not activated
- Using old/damaged boxes β weakened corners collapse in transit
- No loan reference number β delays verification and funding
- Shipping before applying β cards held without a loan file
